Veerji Kolhi has fought a long battle against bonded labor in Pakistan. 78 people were forced to work day and night with only one days ration of food in order to be strong enough to endure their heavy labors. They were held in constant fear as they worked and were threatened , tortured and raped if they would have any thoughts to escape. Veerji grew up as a bonded laborer in Paksitan himself, and vowed that so long as his people were enslaved he would accept any fate that confronted him. Today it can be shown that there is a force greater than us at work. Every success is a blessing from God. May His light continue to shine on Veerji. Seventy eight bonded laborers faced a dangerous fate had Veerji not taken their cases. Now all 78 people are free to live a normal life in freedom. From Jhudo, District Mirpurkhas, these 78 bonded laborers were granted their freedom in the Sessions Court of Mirpurkhas. Veerji Kolhi’s courage and bravery is unmatched in the face of a very dangerous situation and environment in Pakistan. Veerji works day and night at his own personal sacrifice in order to properly defend his people. Today we celebrate with Veerji and his people this great victory of the weak overcoming the strong, the success of the oppressed over a cruel oppressor and the triumph of the gentle servant over the harsh taskmaster. We celebrate with you and your people Veerji Kolhi on your great victory, and know that this is truly a sign of your dreams becoming a reality. Thousands praise you and love you for your tireless efforts for your cause and tens of thousands will soon see an end to this evil practice for eternity.
